Goldie Hatfield

Goldie I. Hatfield, 96, of Hixson, formerly of Colona, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Memorial North Park Hospital in Hixson.Goldie was born April 25, 1917 in Suck Creek, Tenn., the daughter of William Thomas and Florence Lena Jackson McNabb. She married James P. Hatfield Sept. 10, 1938 in Rossville. He passed away March 21, 1993. Goldie was a dedicated wife and mother. She attended church and was a born again Christian. She also enjoyed shopping.Survivors include her children, Charlotte "Jane" Melear, of Colona, James D. of Hampton, Glenna "June" Brown, of Albany, Ill., Bev Eklund, of Cleveland, Tenn., Patti Banther, of Harrison, Flo Herzman, of Ooltwah, Doyal M., of Creal Springs, Ill., Opal J. Lewis, of Hixson, and Darrel T., of Sequatchie, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren.Goldie was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Prater Jr. and Homer R.; daughter, Bonnie Sue Griffith; great-grandson, baby Gabriel; eight brothers and six sisters.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrodermortuary.com.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona.Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary and also one hour prior to service time.Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.Memorials may be made to the family.
