Margaret Splaine

Margaret Loughlin Splaine, of Signal Mountain, made her loving transition to heaven on Sunday, July 21, 2013.Mrs. Splaine was born in Portsmouth, N.H. and graduated from St. Patricks School and Portsmouth High School. She graduated from Regis College in Weston, MA Class of 1942. She taught at the University of New Hampshire for many years and left to become a Papal Volunteer for Latin America for three years. After her service in South America, she spent the rest of her working career with the Catholic Diocese of Manchester, N.H.After years of residence in Epping, N.H, Margaret and Brendan moved to the Alexian Village of Tennessee, a Catholic retirement community, on Signal Mountain, where they have spent 16 blessed years. Margaret loved to travel, meeting people and especially birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and family reunions.She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Brendan J. Splaine; and several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by all eight of her siblings.A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Augustine Chapel on the Alexian Village Campus at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, with Father Augustine Joseph officiating and visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, N.H.Memorial donations may be made to Alexian Village Caritas, Alexian Village Resident Association Scholarship Fund or Alexian Village Healthcare Development Fund.Please share your condolences at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S.
