Ann Epperson Wells died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Life Care Center of Tullahoma, Tenn, at the age of 96.A native of Chattanooga, she was one of three daughters of the late Frank and Mary Elizabeth Epperson. Six brothers predeceased her.Ms. Wells moved to Tullahoma in 1999 to reside near her daughter, Vickie Wells Shelton, a current Tullahoma City Schools board member and donor recruiter for Blood Assurance.Active at Memorial Baptist Church, Hixson, she was a long time hospital volunteer at North Park Hospital, Chattanooga, and a dedicated participant in the Red Hat Society of Tullahoma.She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth J. "Jay" Shelton III in 2003, and her husband, Houston W. Wells, of Chattanooga in l986, a retired TVA employee and U.S. Army officer, after 45 years of marriage.In addition to her daughter, other survivors include her son-in-law, Kenneth J. Shelton, Deputy District Attorney for Coffee County; a granddaughter, Ann Elizabeth Shelton, Santa Monica, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Epperson Mitchell, Chattanooga; a niece, Mrs. Frank (Shelia) Hilley and children, also of Chattanooga.
