Marvin Hubert Thomas, 84, lifelong resident of Hixson, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. He was born in Hickman, Tenn., and was raised in Murfreesboro. Marvin was a graduate of Walter Hill High School and Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Chemistry. He also was a certified document examiner (Graph Analyst). Marvin was a Master Sargent in the US Army and Army National Guard. He had a 30 year career as a pharmaceutical representative with Ciba-Geigy. Marvin was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He loved spending time at his farm, traveling in their motor home and fishing. As a skilled artist, he enjoyed painting many of the images he encountered in his travels. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Marvin was loved by many and will be missed dearly.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Robbie Thomas; brothers, Roy Thomas and Ralph Thomas.Survivors include his wife, Marjorie S. Thomas; daughters, Joan M. (Robert) Arp and Nina K. (Greg) Pomeroy; sons, Barry L. (Etta) Thomas and David N. (Dareitha) Thomas; grandchildren, Jarod Floyd, Lindsey Robertson, Jennifer Granberry, Katie Pomeroy, Christy Pomeroy, Abbey Pomeroy, Collin Thomas and Trent Thomas; great-grandchildren, Faith Floyd, Jason, Floyd, Justis Floyd, Jayden Floyd, Jacob Granberry, Justin Granberry and Jaclyn Granberry; sister, Bobbie Jean Ross; brothers, Randall Thomas and Nathan Thomas; several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Center, 2626 Walker Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Bill Harvey officiating.
