Nevella Powell

CHICKAMAUGA Nevella Rains Powell, 95, departed this life Tuesday, June 11, 2013.She was born in DeKalb County, Ala., to the late Hammond and Allie Rains. Nevella loved gardening and attended Shields Baptist Church in Chickamauga.She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Powell; son, Mickey Powell; and several brothers and sisters.Survivors include her children, Brenon Powell, of Chickamauga, Peggy (Terry) Smith, of Soddy-Daisy, Janet Kay (Johnny) Aaron, of Flintstone, Don (Linda) Powell, of Chattanooga, Ronnie Powell, of Trenton; sister, Lynette Rawlinson, of Birmingham, Ala.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.A special thanks to The Health Care Center at Standifer, especially Gloria for their love and care during this difficult time.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, in the funeral home chapel.Interment will follow in Chickamauga City Cemetery.Family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes Chickamauga Chapel, Chickamauga, Ga.
