SPRING CITY Arlandres Horton, 77, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013.A native of Milan (Gibson County), Tenn., he was the son of the late Arthur Horton and Effie Thomas Horton. He was the youngest of a family of eleven.Arlandres is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia C. Horton, of Spring City; brother, Rev. L.C. (OBell) Horton; sister, Earline Sowell; devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.His education, awards and activities include: Gibson County Public School, serving in the U.S. Army, Knoxville College, B.S. Biology and Chemistry; Tennessee Tech University, M.S. Guidance and Counseling; Ed.S Educational Administration and Counseling. Member Reed Chapel UMC, Spring City, Tenn.; Sunday School Supt./Adult Teacher Committee Member for District Supt./Holston Conference; Board of Ordained Ministers/Holston Conference Staff Parish Relations Committee Member; Certified Lay Speaker of the UMC; Former Member Rhea County Community Chorus; Member of Spring City UMC Choir. Member Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; 32nd Degree Mason; Member of American Legion Post #203 Spring City, Tenn.; Retired Teachers Association of Chattanooga and Rhea Counties; Former chaplain of Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association; Retired 38 years, five months service. Harper Johnson Human Relations Award; Outstanding Leadership-President of CEA; Outstanding Service as Chaplain of Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association; Loyal Dedicated Service-Eastdale Elememtary School; Spring City Jaycees-Man of the Year; Friend of Education; Tennessee Public Service Commission Award; Dedicated TEA Board Service Award.A memorial service including military honors will be held at Spring City United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, with Rev.
