Starling H. Johnson, 66, of Chattanooga, transitioned on Thursday, June 20, 2013.He moved to Tennessee from Michigan in the late 1990s. Always a dedicated member of the community he sought to provide support to those seeking inspiration, personal development and positive health. As a motivational speaker he lent his voice on behalf of youth development, the Kidney Foundation, a local Dialysis network and the State Renal Board of Tennessee. He has also served at the Lighthouse at Patton in memory of his wife Arvella, a previous Director of the program.He has been preceded in death by his wife, Arvella; mother, Rachel; and in-laws, Lester and Vera Thomas.Left to cherish his memory are his three children; son, Starling Johnson Jr.; daughters, Lesley Jackson (Rodney), Robin Rollet (Steve); father, Doris Johnson; brothers, Dorsey (Shirley), Ronald Johnson: eight grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.The family will receive friends at the home from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
