WHITWELL Verlie Dewey McCormick, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at his home surrounded by family.Mr. McCormick was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was retired from Tennessee Consolidated Coal Co.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McCormick; son, Ronnie McCormick; parents, Claude and Viola McCormick; sister, Anita Conner.Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Louise (James) Miller, Denise (Dennis) Dempsey; sisters, Bema Perkins, Cunelia Perry, all of Whitwell, Sue Hood, of Chattanooga; brother, Kenneth McCormick, of Russellville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Melissa Miller, Ashley Miller Campbell, Blake Dempsey, Karleigh Dempsey; one great-grandchild, Brodie Campbell.Family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. today, June 28, and noon-9 p.m. Saturday, June 29.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roy Terry and Rev.
