Fobbus Yancey

Fobbus E. Yancey, 92, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home in Birchwood.He was a resident of Chattanooga for over 60 years and retired from the AmericanLava/3M Company after 30 years with the company. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Philippines and Japan. He was a recipient of the APTO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.He loved to fish with his family and friends and always attended family reunions which were very important to him.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rowena Pike Yancey; infant son; grandson, Alan Bakken and his four loving sisters.Fobbus leaves behind his children, Sarah Lou (Pat) Bakken, Jack (Carol) Yancey, Garry (Robyn) Yancey, Pam Yancey, Mike (Lori) Yancey and grandchildren, Terry (Shonda) Yancey, Tim (Annette) Yancey, Sabrina (Greg) Chapman, Joe Yancey, Sarah Yancey and Christopher Yancey. He has nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, and many family and friends.Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. CST at Wilson Funeral Home, Rainsville, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. CST. Interment will follow in Hopewell, Alabama.The family would like to thank Sarah and Pat Bakken for their love and devotion to Fobbus. They were always there for him through everything!
