Dottie Godfrey

Dorothy M. "Dottie" Godfrey, 82, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in a local hospital.She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, a charter member and pianist of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and a pre-school Sunday School teacher known as "Mrs. Dot". She provided music programs for several area nursing homes. She was born in Winston Salem, N.C., a daughter of the late Ernest and Rosa Smith Sparks. She was a graduate of Walkertown High School class of 1949 in Walkertown, N.C. Dottie taught in various schools in Chattanooga and Bristol, Va.Survivors include her husband, Jim Godfrey; two daughters, Linda Godfrey (Glenn) Farmer, of Ringgold, Ga. and Donna Godfrey (Steve) Ensley, of LaFayette, Ga.; two grandchildren, Madeline Ensley and McIver Ensley both of LaFayette; three brothers, James Sparks, William Sparks and Robert Sparks, all of Winston Salem, N.C.; one sister, Mildred Mitchell, of Winston Salem; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road with the Rev. Randy Martin and the Rev. Larry Dial officiating.
