Paul OLeary

MEMPHIS Paul Edward OLeary, DDS, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.He is survived by three sons, Steven M. OLeary, of Jacksonville, Fla., Douglas Eric OLeary, of Phoenix, Ariz.., Dennis Scot OLeary, of Guntersville, Ala.; and a daughter, Paula O. Ford, of Memphis. He has six grandchildren, Paul Andrew OLeary, of Atlanta, Keli Dawn OLeary, of Jacksonville, Fla. Matthew D. McClure, of Memphis, Payton M. McClure, of Nashville, Kevin D. OLeary, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Erin Reitzel, of Mesa, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren and longtime friend, Gerri Philhart, of Middleton, Tenn. He also leaves one living sister, Patsy Barker, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., and a host of nieces and nephews. Gone before him, waiting for his homecoming, were his mother and father, Albert and Lillie OLeary; brothers and sisters, Alberta Harned, Addie Mae Neal, Robert Earl OLeary, William A. OLeary and Jamie Runyan.Paul was a World War II veteran and belonged to Company A of the 380th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was a construction foreman and a sharpshooter while on duty in Japan during the war. After the war, he attended and graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School, where he was a member of the Honorary Odontological Society. Paul was a dentist for 52 years in the Memphis area and has scores of long time friends, associates and patients that will miss him. He was a longtime member of Windyke Country Club where he spent many wonderful years golfing with his friends. His family was the most important part of his life and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He spent most of his life looking for opportunities to help others. Paul will be remembered for many attributes, of which his love for family, friends and his sense of humor were just a few.A Memorial website on Legacy.com celebrating Pauls life, will be on line, in the near future, for all to view and share their memories of Paul.Services will be held on Friday, March 8 at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tenn., Pauls birth home.
