Riley Coots

RINGGOLD Riley Stone Coots, 5, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 alongside his mother, Claire Coots from injuries sustained in a house fire. He was born Nov. 11, 2007.Riley attended Pre-K at Tiger Creek Elementary School. He played baseball with the Ringgold Youth Association and aspired to one day become a Military Doctor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.His great-grandparents, Otis and Ethelyn Smith, Herman and Corine Coots, and Frank Joseph and Marion Jeannine DeMatteo preceded him in death.Survivors include his father, Jason Lee Coots; grandparents, Tom and Debbie DeMatteo, of Chattanooga, Regina and Danny Coots, of Chattanooga; aunts, Michelle Coots, of Chattanooga and Camille DeMatteo, of Johnson City, Tenn.; cousins, Tyler Boyd, Vandolyn Boyd, and Drake Boyd, all of Chattanooga; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral mass for Riley and his mother Claire will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Gilbert Diaz and the Rev. Dr. Jerry Campbell officiating.Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Riley and his mother Claire to the Ringgold Youth Association, c/o Wells Fargo Bank in Ringgold, Ga.
