William MageeWilliam Magee, 23, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., died on Saturday, May 4, in Nashville.William was a 2008 graduate of McCallie School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in Spanish. At McCallie, William lettered in track for four years and was a state medalist in events including the 110 hurdles and the 4 x 200 and 4 x 100 relay teams. William also finished second in the Division II region decathlon his sophomore year. At Ole Miss, William was a member of the Men's Track and Field program for two years and he made the SEC Outdoor Championships his sophomore year in the 400-meter hurdles. William was named to the Southeastern Conferences academic honor roll in 2010. William also participated in the Honors College and the Croft Institute during his four years at Ole Miss, and he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.William, known for his big smile and how he brightened a room, traveled abroad while at McCallie, studying one summer in Spain, and at Ole Miss he spent a semester in Argentina and a summer in Ecuador. He was fluent in Spanish, had a wanderlust for travel and love for music, and loved to laugh.William is survived by his parents, David and Kent Magee; brother, Hudson Magee; sister, Mary Halley Magee, all of Chattanooga. Other survivors include his grandmothers, Nancy Rasco and Betty Magee, both of Oxford, Miss.William will be honored with a Celebration of Life service at 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the McCallie School Chapel.
