Samuel Madison

Samuel Bernard Madison, 62, transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his home.He was a faithful member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Youth Sunday School Teacher and as chairman of the Deacon Board until his transition to his heavenly home.Sam, a graduate of Alabama State University earned his masters in administration and supervision at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.His professional career began as an English teacher at Orchard Knob Middle School. He retired after 30 years with the Chattanooga Police Department where he progressed through the ranks from patrolman to Sergeant. Sam served the community as Director of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (D.A.R.E.) for 15 years in the Chattanooga Public Schools System. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Organization.He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Carrie Norfleet Madison; siblings, Lula Poe, Dr. Tommie Madison Jr. and Robert Madison.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Daisy Warren Madison; children, Reginald (Erika) Madison, Nashville, Sonya Madison, Atlanta, Krystle (Wayne) McKnight, Memphis, Hollie Madison, Chattanooga; five grandchildren, relatives and friends.In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the American Heart Association.Home going celebration will begin at noon on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church located at 1734 E. Third St., Chattanooga TN 37404.Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.Sams body may be viewed beginning at noon today and the family will receive friends from 5 7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, located at 1101 Dodds Ave., 423-622-9995.
