Margaret WoodBennet

tMargaret Eleanor Wood Bennett, 70, died on April 17, 2013 in Houston, Texas where she lived.She was born in Chattanooga to Margaret Imogene Stafford Wood and Travis Jerome Wood. A life-long educator, at the time of her death she was English professor at the American Intercontinental University-Houston where she was the 2012 Teacher of the Year. Through her business, Bennett & Associates, she developed and taught corporate training programs for Texas governmental agencies dealing with environmental issues. She also was serving as assistant director of Caring Adoptions, a Texas based licensed adoption, agency. Margaret was a graduate of Red Bank School and University of Chattanooga where she was Homecoming Queen and "Most Ambitious" of her class. She earned Masters degrees from both Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and University of Texas in Austin.She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, Marilyn Thornbury, Chattanooga.
