Robert Orton

Robert Edward Orton, of Harrison, 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the evening of Thursday, May 16, 2013.He was born in Etowah, Tenn., Aug. 9, 1926, of the late of Burt and Nora Orton, and married his beloved wife Jean, on Dec. 25, 1945.Mr. Orton retired from Mayfield Dairy in 1988 after 25 years of service and was a member of the Harrison Masonic Lodge #114.He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jean Bowman Orton; his daughter Cheryl (Alan) Hayden; and two granddaughters, Alexandra and Katharine Hayden of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces.The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m, today at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at The Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Garden.The family also wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care provided by Guardian Home Health and Hospice of Chattanooga in the last months of Mr. Ortons life.In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Orton's memory may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Chattanooga.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
