Betty Slatton

LAKEVIEW Betty B. "Granny" Slatton, 76, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013.She was born in Ider, Ala., to the late Josephine Wade on July 26, 1936. She retired from Catoosa County Children and Family Services, was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening, but most of all, spending time with her family.She was also preceded in death by her husband, John G. Slatton; son, Steven Slatton; son-in-law, Phillip Varnon; and great-granddaughter, Leila Jones.Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Varnon, Donna (Michael) Jones, all of Lakeview, Cathy (Richard) Brown, of Fort Oglethorpe; sister-in-law, Gladys (Ron) Bray, of Henegar; eight grandchildren, Jon Varnon, Lacey Varnon, Heath (Tracey) Jones, Bailey Jones, Logan Brown, Tim (Dee Dee) Brown, Travis (Erica) Brown and Travis White; great-grandson, Michael Jones.The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. William Owens officiating.
