Susan Kirkpatrick

COOKEVILLE Susan Kirkpatrick, 37, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in a Cookeville, Tenn., hospital.A native of South Pittsburg, Tenn.,, she was a 1994 graduate of South Pittsburg High School where she was a member of the Beta Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, played basketball and volleyball and was the Band Drum Major. She was also a graduate of Tennessee Technological University where she earned her BS and Masters in Physical Education and her Masters Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership. She was the Lifetime Wellness and Physical Education teacher for 12 years at Burks Elementary in Monterey and had taught at Monterey High School for two years before that. She was also an assistant volleyball coach at Avery Trace Middle School in Cookeville.She had been honored by the Tennessee Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance with the Tennessee Middle School Teacher of the Year.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anderson and Grace Walden Allen and Joseph W. and Wilma Kirkpatrick; aunts and uncles, Don Kirkpatrick, Charles "Goodboy" Allen Jr., Margie Stewart Dan and Elizabeth Pittman, and James Allen.Survivors include her fianc to whom she was to be married next month, Patrick Elmore (and his family); parents, Neil and Janie Kirkpatrick; aunts and uncles, Bebe (Louis) Fuqua, Shelby Kirkpatrick, Annabelle Allen, Jean Murray, Linda "Cooter" (Wayne) Willis, all of South Pittsburg; several cousins and many dear friends.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. CDT today, May 25, 2013, with the Rev.
