John Long Jr.

John Long Jr. CHATTANOOGA VALLEY John Bertie "J.B." Long Jr., 82, went home to be with the Savior Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Chattanooga to the lath John Bertie Long Sr. and Nannie Grace Lewis Long. He was a lifelong resident of Walker County and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a former employee of DuPont and Holders Garage. He retired from Mueller Foundry in Chattanooga with over 30 years of service. He was the owner/operator of J.B. Longs Auto Electric off Dry Valley Road. He was a longtime member of Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class in Rossville. Along with his parents, he preceded in death by several siblings and his granddaughter, Miss Amanda Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret "Midge" Hull Long, of Chattanooga Valley; their children, Sonya (Lamar) Thomas, of Cartersville, Ga., Jeff (Sue) Long, of Fort Oglethorpe, Chris Long, of Rossville; sisters, Lucille Long, of Rossville, Mary Ruth Ross, of Fort Payne, Ala.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Friday until the service. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in the chapel with Rev. George Pinion officiating. Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Online register book will be at wn.wilsonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by W.L.
