Dewey Wallin

Dewey Hammond Wallin, 89, of Dalton, and a native of LaFayette, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013. He was born to the late Archie Bryant Wallin Sr. and Eula Lee Cooper Wallin on Nov. 4, 1924. Mr. Wallin retired from Galey and Lord Textiles, worked for Wal-Mart, a member of Dalton First Baptist and was a Purple Heart Recipient serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also an ordained pastor and evangelist and he enjoyed reading. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Mae Wallin; two brothers, Bryant and Ralph Wallin; sister, Kathleen Wallin; grandson, Matt Perkins; great-grandson, Harrison Baker. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley Perkins, of Dalton, Sharon and Greg Scoggins, of Spartanburg, S.C., Frances and Scott Thompson, of Dalton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kay Wallin, of LaFayette, Mickey and Londie Wallin, of Ringgold; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Earline Wallin, of LaFayette; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1- 8 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewey Boyd officiating.
