Christine Collison

Vera Christine Aycock Collison, 92, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013. She was the widow of Raymond "Sonny" Greer Collison who was well known in Chattanooga for his auto parts business. Tina, as she was affectionately known, was born on Aug. 22, 1921, in South Pittsburg, Tenn., the daughter of Jesse James Aycock and Irene Chastain. She was predeceased by all six of her siblings. She was a member of Ridgedale Methodist Church in Chattanooga for many years and later joined Jones Memorial Methodist in East Ridge. Christine was a devoted wife and mother. Her time, talents, energy, and attention were centered on her family. She was particularly pleased and proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and her family enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world. This was made possible by promotional sales incentives available thru her husband's business. Next to her family and friends, the pleasures Tina enjoyed were knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, and crafts. She was even known to give her creations to anyone who complimented her. Music was an influence in her life and the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and encouraged other family members to pursue an interest in music. Tina loved to hear her family sing, play the piano, and interact with each other through music. She is survived by one son, Raymond Greer Collison, Jr., and his wife Linda Collison; four grandchildren, Kenny Collison, Karen Collison, Jennifer Vanderslice and her husband Mark Vanderslice, Christopher Steele; daughter Ann Mathis and her husband Jerome Mathis; two grandchildren, Jeff Hipps, Greg Hipps; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Hipps, daughter, Teresa Womack and her husband Fred Womack; three grandchildren, Angela Ripper and her husband, Dan Ripper, Paul Womack, and Will Watson and his wife Stephanie; three great-grandchildren , Annie Ripper, Joseph Ripper, and Drew Watson; numerous nieces and nephews. There will not be any visitation at the funeral home. Private Graveside Services will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
