Charlotte Skillingto

n Charlotte Oaks Skillington went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, after suffering a long battle with RA. Charlotte lived in Chattanooga all of her life and was a graduate of Central High School in 1956. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and taught a childrens class for many years before joining the Covenant Class. She was originally a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Charlotte retired from Interstate Life & Accident Insurance Co., and also from American National Bank (SunTrust). Upon retiring form SunTrust Bank, She went to work part-time with Parisian at Hamilton Place working there until their closing. She had decided to spend some time with her loving husband, daughter, grandchildren and the most precious of all her great-grandsons, Tucker and Tarver. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jim Skillington; her parents, Oscar and Mable Hiatt Oaks; six brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Deanna S. (Ron) Huffman, of Cleveland, Tenn.; granddaughters Ashley H., (Tucker) Cook and Danielle H. (Michael) Reed, of Ooltewah; grandson, Nicholas C. Huffman, of Chattanooga; and her pride and joy great-grandsons, Tucker Cole Huffman and Tarver Joseph Cook of Ooltewa; also survived by a brother, Rev. Charles Leroy (Glenda) Oaks, South Pittsburg, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Jo (John) Bain, Chickamauga, Georgia; Dorothy Queen of High Point, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Hilda Oaks of Augusta, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Interment will be at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 13, 2013, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens where Dr. Bill Owens and Rev. Charles Leroy Oaks will give a prayer. Active pallbearers will be Ron Huffman, Nicholas Huffman, Michael Reed, Tucker Cook, Daniel Hagaman, Donnie Hagaman and Jim Beasley. Memorial contributions may be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church, Faith Foundation Fund, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421; or Amedisys Hospice Care, 7205 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
