Jean Steagall

Jean Deloris Steagall, 76, of Ooltewah, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born in Lynchburg, Va., on March 2, 1937. Jean graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg in 1955. For 58 years, she was married to her lifelong companion and husband, James A. Steagall Jr. Together they raised four children, whom she dearly loved. Having spent most of her adult life raising and caring for her children and grandchildren, in 1996, she became the receptionist for the law firm of McKoon, Williams & Hegeman. Jean did everything with a passion, and visitors to the firm were always welcomed with her gracious smile and her warm Virginian accent. Her hobbies included gardening, floral arranging, playing the piano, movies and contributing to the community. Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren. Jean is survived by her husband, four children, James Allen (Kim) Steagall III, of Chattanooga, Sherrill (David) Stoner, of Ringgold, Ga., Vickie (James) McKoon, of Chattanooga, and Jennifer (Jeff) Hawke, of Ringgold, Ga.; six grandchildren, Brett Steagall, Dustin Ridley, Ryan Ridley, Casey Ridley, Carson McKoon and Kendall McKoon; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Ridley; and brothers, Robert Lee Wright and Bobby Wright, of Lynchburg, Va. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O. Box 46, Chattanooga, TN 37401.
