Charley Hickey

Charles Vernon "Chip" Hickey, 57, a resident of the Euchee Chapel community of Spring City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at his home. He was born April 14, 1956, in Rockwood, Tenn. He graduated from Spring City High School in 1974 and later graduated from the Rets Technical School in Louisville, Ky. Chip was a retired program administrator with T.V.A. Watts Bar Nuclear Facility and was formerly employed with LazyBoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Hickey and Edna Irene Gillespie Hickey; sister, Theresa Darlene Hickey-Pendergrass; paternal grandparents, John Wiley Hickey and Cleo Louise Thompson Hickey; maternal grandparents, Gail G. Gillespie and Bertha Edna Howell Gillespie. Survivors include: sisters, Vanessa I. Hickey, of Spring City, Tenn., Rene Hickey-Wyatt and husband, Charles, of Dayton, Tenn.; brothers, William D. Gillespie and wife, Kimberly, of Spring City, Stefan Hickey of Dayton; brother-in-law, Alvin U. Pendergrass, of Spring City; sister-in-law, Tracy Hickey of Spring City; special niece and goddaughter, Charlee Swafford, of Dayton, Tenn.; nieces, Erica Roberts of Dayton, Ashsha Hughes, of Nashville, Chanda Hickey, of Spring City, Kailyn Hickey of Spring City; nephews, LaMar Pendergrass, of Dayton, Marcus Pendergrass, of Madison, Ala., Isaiah Gillespie, of Spring City, Tenn., Zachary Hamilton of Spring City; stepnephew, Bryson Wyatt, of Crossville, Tenn.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts, Eunice Rankin, of Columbus, Ohio, Shirley Oggs and husband, James, of Spring City, Tenn., Sallie Mae Burum of Oak Ridge; uncles, Booker T. Gillespie and wife, Carolyn, of Nashville, Alvas Gillespie and wife, Pearlie, of Abilene, Texas, Curtis Gillespie, of Dallas, Texas, Clarence Moore, of Decatur, Tenn., Walter Jones, of Townsend, Md.; special friend, the Rev. Annette Warren of Virginia. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in Gillespie/Euchee Cemetery in Spring City for graveside services and interment with Rev.
