Glenn George Boggs, 90, passed away peacefully early Friday Morning, Nov. 15, 2013 at his daughter and son-in-laws home in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was born on Aug. 12, 1923 in Burkburnett, TX. He resided in the Boynton Community of Ringgold, Ga., with his wife for over fifty years. He served his country in WWII as a member of the Army Air Corps. on a B-25 in which he was a radio operator. Glenn retired from Five Star Food Service in Dalton, Ga. In his early years he performed on a country music show in Greenville, SC as a singer and guitar player. Glenn also was an accomplished woodworker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty years, Helen Kelly Boggs; his parents, Charles D. Boggs and Essie Hix Boggs; sister, Louise Boggs Jones and brother, James Monroe Boggs. Survivors include sons, Terry (Wendy) Boggs, and Duane Boggs; daughters, Carol (Johnny) Lumpkin, Debra (Mo) Spears; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, and Friend. A visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the Coffman Funeral Home-Petitt Chapel, 12855 Highway 27, Summerville, Georgia 30747. Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 3 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel. Glenn will be laid to rest beside his wife, at the Sand Springs Cemetery in Rome, GA.
