Jack White, Sr.

Jack Eugene White, Sr., 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was of the Baptist Faith. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy earning the Victory Medal during W.W. II and retired from Dixie Yarns after 44 years in 1992. Jack was a member of the Elk's Lodge 91 and the VFW #1289, he enjoyed playing golf with his family and spent endless hours playing bingo. Jack was a kind person who always had a positive word for everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. White; parents, William Lee and Nell Evans White; sister, Sarah Moon; and brothers, Bill and Ed White. Jack is survived by his sons, Jack (Debbie) White, Jr., of Ringgold and Tommy (Violet) White, of Chattanooga; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Rev. Herman Kapherr officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Elk's Lodge #91 Scholarship Fund, 1061 Graysville Rd. Chattanooga TN 37421. Arrangements by W.L.
