Sonny Barber

Charles "Sonny" A. Barber, 75, passed away Thursday Nov. 21, 2013. A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was a former employee of Shaw Industries where he retired after 26 years and was a member of Parkway Baptist Temple in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Darling Barber; parents, Thomas and Tula Barbee Barber; sisters, Alice Ogle and Rachel Brown and brother, William Barber. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Crowe Barber, of Ringgold, Ga.; four children, Pam (Lamar) Shrader, of Ringgold, Ga., Randy (Kim) Barber, of Easley, S.C., Steve (Teresa) Barber, of Ringgold, Ga., and Kenneth (Tina) Barber, of Rossville, Ga.; three sisters, Margaret Jordan, of Hixson, Tenn., Frances Snyder, of Red Bank, Tenn., and Mary Brown, of Sand Mtn., Tenn.; two brothers, Billy Barber and Gary Barber both of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; fourteen grandchildren, Crystal Shrader, Travis Shrader, Holly Shrader, Megan Barber, Ashlee Barber, Blake Barber, Amy Grant, Stephanie Barber, Kristin Barber, Karmen Barber, Jessica Barber, Savannah Barber, Aiden Barber, and Hunter Barber; eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday Nov. 24, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Sampson and Bro. Greg Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parkway Baptist Temple.
