Opal Wilburn

LaFOLLETTE Opal Lilly Wilburn, 94, passed away Sunday, Nov, 24, 2013. She was a member of the Faith Way Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Wilburn; mother and father, Frances Malinda Ayers Rookard and Granville Henderson Rookard; her brothers, M.C. and R.L. Rookard; two half brothers, Floyd and Forrester Lay and a brother, Minton, who died in childhood and two sisters who died in infancy. She is survived by her seven children, Woody Wilburn and wife, Wanda, of Greeneville, Shirley Wilburn Kibble and husband, Newell, of Hixson, Johnny Wilburn and Jenny, of Corbin, Bill Wilburn and wife, Denise, of Oak Ridge (formerly of Greeneville), Eddie Wilburn and wife, Vickie, of Pioneer, Ken Wilburn and wife, Elaine, of Jacksboro, and Sheila McNeeley and husband, Ken, of LaFollette; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a long list of nieces and nephews in the Rookard, Brandenburg, Morgan, and Lay families. Funeral services 7 p.m. Friday at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herman Carlo Bruce, Rev. Steve Bruce and Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery & Memorial Gardens for graveside services and interment. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday before funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Campbell County Honor Guard, 705 East Central Ave., LaFollette, TN 37766.
