Butch Jackson

Vernon E. "Butch" Jackson, 66, of Sale Creek, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. A native of Louisville, Ky., he was a longtime resident of Sale Creek. He also lived in Rossville, where he attended high school. Butch retired from T.V.A. where he worked at Watts Bar and Sequoyah Nuclear Plants in the Instrumentation Department. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country in the Vietnam War with the 183rd RAC "Bird Dog" Unit. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Dorothy Felton; and brothers, Alfred Garnett Jackson and Eddie Felton; and a sister, Joyce Ann Rose, all of Louisville. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Carol Jackson, of Sale Creek; one daughter, Angela (Mike) Cobble; and grandson, Jackson Cobble, of Chattanooga; a brother, Rick (Cathy) Jackson, of Louisville, Ky.; and sisters, Joyce (John) Moberly, Sandra Schaefer, Robin (David) Stang, Susie Sutton and Carla Felton, several nieces and nephews, all of Louisville, Ky. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors with Bishop Calvin Nunley officiating. The 183rd RAC "Bird Dog" Unit will serve as honorary pallbearers. Those that wish to go in procession with the family to the cemetery should be at the funeral home by 10 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the 183rd RAC "Bird Dog" Unit in care of David Neff, 767 E. 1250 Road, Lawrence, KS 66046.
