Ellane Heflein

Fla. Ellane Workman Heflin, beloved mother, sister and friend, passed to Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 in Destin, Fla., at the age of 85. Her early years were spent in Chickamauga, Ga., and Henagar, Ala., where she was born. She then married and resided in Germany and several stateside posts until she settled in Montgomery, Alabama for thirty years. Ms. Heflin then became a resident of Crestview, Fla., where she was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Ellane was gentle, kind and compassionate and was God's special missionary to comfort those in her path who were weary, ill and in need. She was known at her church and local hospitals for the many hours she spent visiting the sick and lonely. Ms. Heflin was survived by and cherished by her five loving children, Elizabeth Ruth Petersen and husband, Chris Petersen, Deborah Fedele and husband, Larry Fedele, Dr Joseph Heflin, Jr. and wife, Pamela, April Heflin and husband, Mark Coker and Desiree Lyon Howe and husband, Dr. Richard Howe; and by her grandchildren, Lelia Brougher, Spring Howell, Sarah Taylor, Miranda Dennis, Ian Murdoch, Parker Heflin, Kelsey Heflin, and Patrick Petersen; and by her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Brougher, William Brougher, Chloe Mettenbrink, and Gage Mettenbrink; and her sister, Doris Jackson; and brother, Louis Workman; and former husband, Joseph Heflin. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Biddle Cemetery at Friendship Baptist Church, County Rd. 715, Henagar, Alabama with visitation at 8 a.m. at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Alabama, 40 Cornerstone Rd, Ider, AL.
