Genevia Mason

Genevia Christine Thomas Mason, 82, passed away Thanksgiving day, Nov. 28, 2013, at her home in Soddy-Daisy. She was born April 27, 1931, to the late Joseph F. Thomas and Lillie Mae Jones Thomas of Jasper. She graduated from Marion County High School in Jasper, Tenn., in 1949. She married John Wheeler Phillips on June 18, 1951, who preceded her in death in 1957. Chris was employed at DuPont from 1950 to 1985 and she worked at Dillards from 1990 to 2003. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue Murphy, of Muleshoe, Texas; brothers, J.C., Vernon, Joe Louis, William, twins Carroll and Harold, John A. and Allen Thomas, all of Jasper, Survivors include her children, Carol (Billy Payne) Keith and Tommy Phillips; grandchildren, Brandy (Jim Scarborough) Redder, and Jason (Jennifer Jordan) Fisher; great-granddaughter, Kayla (Joe) Templet; brother, Bobby (Johnie) Thomas, of Hixson, Fred Thomas, of Jasper; and a sister-in-law, Fran Thomas of Jasper. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 1, 2013, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister Larry Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Whitwell Memorial Gardens.
