Nell Hill

ORANGE BEACH Nell Newman Hill, 79, a native of Georgia and a resident of Orange Beach, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.Nell was a true Angel on this earth, born in Bleckley County, Ga., on April 22, 1934. She was the younger daughter of the late Willie Vinton Newman and Dorothy Mildred Burns. She graduated from Glynn Academy, Brunswick, Ga., in 1952. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, followed by attendance at Valdosta State College, Valdosta, Ga. A longtime resident of Brentwood, Tenn., she was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, The Brentwood Womens Golf Association, The Nashville Womens Golf Association and the Womens Tennessee Golf Association. She was a member of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, Gulf Shores, Ala., The Gulf Shores Newcomers Club and The Gulf Shores Duplicate Bridge Club.She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Eustace Hill III; two sons, Andrew, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Christopher, of Fredericksburg, Va.; a daughter, Laura Rigsby, of Oxford, Ala.; a sister, Dorothy Glover, of West Melbourne, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Delaney and Sophia Hill, Kent, Emily, and Katie Hill, Trey and Tyler Rigsby; and a dear little friend, Ryleigh Phillips.Private graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, Ala.Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. CDT Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, Gulf Shores, Ala. Family will receive visitors at 10 a.m.In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make a contribution to Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Sharing and Caring, The American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice.
