Edith McEntyre

WHITWELL Edith Nye McEntyre, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at home with her family by her side.Those left to cherish her memories are: her beloved husband of 67 years, James McEntyre; children, Linda Stephen (Ron), Charles McEntyre (Ruthie), Elaine Seymour (Jerry), Patsy Fredericksen (Lynn, deceased), and Eleanor Campbell (Frank); nephew, Larry Kilgore (Tricia); grandchildren, Elaine Stephen, Gail Laochinda (Daniel), Allison McEntyre Gaharan (John), Michael and Brett Seymour (Ashley Hazelwood), Erica Scaramuzza (Franco), Emily Neely (Stefan), Jason Campbell (Ashley), and Lisa Campbell (Miguel Roman); five great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred and Raymond Nye and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Nye Garland; father, Charles Nye; brother, Phillip Nye; sisters, Dorothy Mosnat and Mildred Harris; sister-in-law and brother in-law, Josephine and Clint Kilgore, Jr.Edith received her RN from Baroness Erlanger during World War II. She was Dr. William Shull's head nurse at Whitwell Hospital for many years.Edith was a faithful member of Looney's Creek United Methodist Church for 60 years where she taught the preschool children for 40 years. She adored the grandchildren and any child; she knew they were a gift from God. She spent her summers canning and freezing the produce from James' labors in the garden. At age 83, she and James began delivering meals to the shut-ins. Edith was well loved for her constant smile and never complaining though in pain for most of her last five years.A private burial arranged by Reed Funeral Home was held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Red Hill Cemetery.A celebration of Edith's life will be held at Looneys Creek United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, with Rev. Brenda Woods presiding. Receiving of friends will begin at 10 a.m. CDT and service will begin at 11 a.m. CDT.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holston Home for Children, Attn: Charles Hutchins, P.O.
