Floyd Harrell

Floyd Walker Harrell, 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.Mr. Harrell was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1952-53 serving on the USS Tutuila. He was the owner of Harrell Concrete Finishing for 25 years. Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Van Zant Harrell and Etta Estelle Gardner; son, James Furman Cox; brothers and sisters, Jack Harrell, Doris (Jude) Berry, Pete Harrell, Joyce Lee, Phillip Harrell and Clois HarrellHe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elsie Jewell Pitts Harrell; children, Rick (Arlene) Cox; Debbie (Rusty) Massengale; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Melissa (Paul) Duncan; Dustin Hayes, Eric, Tehya and John; Jason (Pilar) Harness, Brodie and Alayna, Miranda Henderson, Cassandra and Rae-leigh; Justin (Karrie) Harness, Olivia and Owen; Lynde (Rusty) Thompson and Masen; sisters and brothers, Edna McCreeless, Bessie Dean, Allen Harrell; many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Darrell Davenport officiating.Special thanks to all the staff at Erlanger Medical Center, Oncology and Stroke Wings.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.Visit www.hamiltonfuneraloptions.com to share words of condolences to the family and view the memorial tribute.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, 423-531-3975.
