Norma Peasner

Norma Victoria Farley Peasner died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in Charleston, S.C.She was born July 29, 1918 in Crossville, Ala.She grew up in Fort Payne, Ala., and graduated at the top of her class from DeKalb County High School in 1936. Norma learned her craft as a photographic airbrush artist working for Olan Mills Studio in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and then went to work for her family photographic business, Farley Studios, in Chattanooga, as head of the Art Department. She worked there until her retirement.Norma loved teaching Sunday school, gardening, reading, working crosswords and spending special evenings playing Scrabble with her daughter and friends, Viviann Wiedemann and Ellen Simak.She was preceded in death by her parents, William B. and Nannie (Jones) Farley; her brothers, Lewis, Liston, Foy, Wymon and Rohney Farley; her sister, Verby Hurt; and her husband of 50 years, Joseph W. Peasner.Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debarah and Brad Harbuck, of Summerville, S.C.; her sister, Grace Kelley, of Donalsonville, Ga.; her special niece, Sara Guffee, of East Ridge, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Orphie Jean Winkle, Chippawa, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.There will be no service and honoring Normas wishes, she will be buried at National Cemetery in Chattanooga.The family suggests any memorial gifts be sent to Odyssey Hospice, 5965 Core Ave., Suite 603, N. Charleston, SC 29406.
