Omethia Rollins Johnson, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.Mrs. Johnson was a longtime member of Tucker Baptist Church, the Cupidettes Club Inc., Chattanooga Chapter.Mrs. Johnson graduated from Riverside High School in 1964. She attended City College and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She faithfully served the Hamilton County school system for over 35 years until her retirement.She was preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Jessie Allison; father, Jocephus Bellamy; brothers, James Allison, Wellman McCallie; and sister, Louise Griffin.Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sister, Velma McDaniel; her husband of 51 years, John P. "Joe" Johnson Jr.; sons, John P. (Debra) Johnson III, of Jonesboro, Ga., Rodney Johnson, of Chattanooga, Kenneth (Taneka) Johnson, of Chattanooga, Anthony Griffin, of Olympia, Wash.; daughter, Velma (Tauris) Odum, of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; and host of nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, friends and associates.Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Greater Tucker Baptist Church.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
