Dorothy Cate Cooper, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct, 10, 2013, with her daughters by her side at Elmcroft of Hamilton Place.Dorothy was born in Athens, Tenn., on Oct. 25, 1925, to Clifford and Abbie Cate. She graduated from McMinn County High School, and on June 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to Glenn Cooper in Athens, Tenn. Their marriage was blessed with three children. In 1971, they moved to Chattanooga where Dorothy became a faithful and active member of St. John United Methodist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class and the St. John United Methodist Womens Group. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother, as well as, cooking for family and friends and at numerous church events.Dorothy will be dearly missed by her daughters, Barbara Cagle, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Doris Cooper, of Chattanooga; her brother Delbert (June) Cate, of Riceville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shannon (Michael) Weaver and Jameson (Alicia) Cagle; great-grandchildren, Cooper Cagle and Aspen Weaver; her very special cousin, Ronnie (Patty) Winningham, of Cookeville, Tenn.; and other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Cooper; son, James Cooper; parents, Clifford and Abbie Cate; and brothers, Leroy Cate, Ralph Cate, Hoyt Cate and Elbert Cate.A celebration of Life of Dorothy will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at St. John United Methodist Church, 3021 Murray Hills Drive.
