Chuck Rudwall

Jr.J. Charles Rudwall Jr., 55, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013. He was born March 27, 1958. "Chuck" was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Field Spoerri Rudwall, and John Charles Rudwall.Chuck was born in Evanston, Ill. At Oakwood High School in Dayton, Oh., Chuck was one of the few multi-sport athletes in the history of OHS who earned nine (9) Varsity sports letters (football, wrestling, and track), a very rare accomplishment for an excellent athlete. Chuck attended the Bowling Green State University (Ohio), where he majored in Communications, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He married Connie (nee, Hanley) Rudwall in 1989, and they have two beautiful and exceptional children: Jay Spoerri Rudwall, 19 and Maggie Connor Rudwall, 15. They have lived in Chattanooga, TN since 2002. Chuck is also survived by three brothers, Tom Rudwall, of San Francisco, Calif., Dave Rudwall (Christy), of Dayton, Oh., and Jim Rudwall (Juls), of Libertyville, Ill. Chuck is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Karen) Hanley, and Phil (Joella); and wonderful and accomplished nieces and nephews, including, Will (Tom), Paul David, Rachel, Jonny (Dave), Catherine (Jim), Mary Jane and Connor (Dennis) and Araya and Ivy (Phil). He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Nanette Wild dear friend Jim Rumball,and father-in-law, David Hanley. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Imogene Page of Tucson, Ariz., and Martha and Norman Wohlken, of The Sea Ranch, Calif.; as well as many cousins.Chuck was a wonderful husband to Connie, and was tirelessly committed to supporting Jay and Maggie in their academic and athletic endeavors...and yes, always being the most vocal parent in the stands! Chuck had so many dear friends who loved him and will sorely miss him. Chuck was warm, loving, caring, FUNNY, loyal, and inspiring. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people from all over the country who have expressed their condolences for a man that was larger than life itself.A visitation for family and friends has been set for 1 p.m., today, Oct. 13, at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN, and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in the same location.
