DUNLAP Jessie P. "J.P." Shipley, 68, of the Cagle Community died at his home Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.He was the owner of Shipley Coal Company. He was born in Sewanee, Tenn. on Dec. 8, 1944.He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Shipley; brother, Leroy "Gabby" Shipley.He is survived by his mother, Elsie Layne Shipley; son, Jesse Shipley; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Magouirk and Autumn (John) Higdon; brothers, Bradley (Vicki), Darwin (Carolyn), Bill (Paula) and Drew Shipley; sisters, Sue (Joe) Narramore, Annette (Rick) Rollins, Clema (Bobby) Richardson, Tammy Shipley and Jean Hennessee; caregiver and friend, Diane Shipley; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today in the funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Griffiths Creek Cemetery.Arrangements by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tenn. www.laynefuneralhome.com.
