Vernon Wagoner

Vernon Andrew Wagoner, 79, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.He was born July 17, 1934, son of the late Andrew Clayton Wagoner and Vivian Vernon Wagoner.He was a lifelong resident of Ooltewah, graduated from Ooltewah High School, attended maintenance school and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for Western Union for 13 years, traveling extensively in the United States, England and Spain. He later retired from Sun Trust in Chattanooga after 27 years. He was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church for 55 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Wagoner and Bill Wagoner; sisters, Lillie Davis, Thelma Ritchie, Evelyn Holsomback and Fairie Kellerhals.Survivors include Shirley Wagoner, his loving wife of 57 years; sons Vernon "Andy" Wagoner II (Maureen), Ooltewah; Alan (Angie) Wagoner, Ringgold; grandchildren, Lindsey Wagoner, Alishia (Scott) Holcomb, Chelsie Wells, Katlyn and Cynthia Wagoner, Austin Landgraf; and great-granddaughter, Aubrhy Holcomb; sister, Betty Ann Wagoner.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 15, at the Valley View Chapel.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Rev.
