Rodney Wright

Rodney Lamar Wright, 41, of Chattanooga, passed Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, 2013, at a local hospital.He was a member of St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America of Cleveland, Tenn., and a member of the 100 Black Men of Bradley County. He was employed for 14 years At McKee Foods, and was a 1990 graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, where he was in the band. Rodney was an avid golfer, and enjoyed music and loved to cook.He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Johnson Sr.; grandparents, Mary Wright and Crawford Wright, and Elizabeth and Charlie Johnson.Survivors include his wife, Joy Wright, of Chattanooga; one daughter, Bianca Perkins, of Knoxville; three sisters, Sonja Griffin, of Cleveland, Ohio, Kimberly (Patrick) Brewer, of Chattanooga, and Sabrina (David) Cotton, of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Darryl (Gina) Griffin Sr., of Chattanooga, and John Paul Johnson Jr., of Chattanooga; mother, Mozella (James) Parris, of Chattanooga; and loving mother-in-law, Regina (Erskine) Piersaul, of Cleveland, Tenn.; and grandmother, Edna White, of Cleveland; one brother-in-law, Demetrius Ramsey of Cleveland; five sisters-in-law, Kala Falker, of Atlanta, Ebony White, of Chattanooga, Jessica White, and Toya Cobb, both of Chattanooga, and Dekesha (Antonio) Hill, of Cleveland; many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Chattanooga, with the Rev. Rhonda Westfield, pastor of St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America delivering the eulogy.Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tenn.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home, Cleveland, and from 6 until 7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home in Chattanooga.Words of comfort may be submitted at www.mddotsonandsons.com.
