Delphia Jessee

FORT OGLETHORPE Delphia Gladine "Dean" Jessee, 84, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at her residence. A native of Spanishburg, W.Va., Dean lived in Mullens and Princeton, W.Va., as well as Poinciana, Fla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe for the nearly 12 years that she resided here and was active in the churchs Keenagers program and the Lydia Sunday School Class.Dean was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Clarence Jessee, who died in 2010; parents Henry Orley and Vertie Marie Moye; three brothers, Vergil, Velmer and Fred; and her beloved sister, Faye Grose of Princeton, W.Va. She is survived by three devoted children, Linda (Dr. Marvin Mills), of Ringgold, Ed (Morgan) Jessee, of Fort Oglethorpe and Rick (Julie) Jessee, of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Kathleen Harvey of Flat Top, W.Va., and Carol Wyrick of Dublin, Va. She leaves behind three beautiful granddaughters, Stephanie (Kevin) Bracken of Castle Rock, Colo., Erin (Nick) Witschey, of Weirton, W.Va, and Carrie (Tim) Hewitt of Chesapeake, Va.;, six great-grandchildren and two companion cats, Abby and Casey.The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 22 and 30 minutes before the funeral service on Wednesday. Services will be in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, with Pastor Jason Thomas officiating.Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visit www.heritagefh.com to view the memorial tribute and share condolences.
