Melvis Lybrand

Melvis P. Lybrand, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.Melvis was born in Miami, Fla., to the late Morrell and Lillie Mae Lybrand and raised in East Lake. He attended Central High School before joining the Army. He later worked as a Service Technician in the carpet industry at Singer Cobble then at Tuftco where he retired after more than 20 years of service. He was also of the Baptist faith.Surviving are his wife, Mary Sally Lybrand; sons, Scott (Sharon) Lybrand and Steve (Connie) Lybrand; stepson, David Edwards; grandchildren, Lauren Lybrand, Nicole Lybrand, Matthew Edwards and Jade Edwards; brothers, Bill Lybrand and Jimmy (Pam) Lybrand; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marlon Lybrand; and sister, Martina Snyder.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 28, at the funeral home with Mr. Darrel Smith officiating.Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist.
