Lionel Zachery

Lionel Zachery transitioned from this life on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.Lionel was born to the union of Leonard Zachery and Dale Rooks-Zachery on Oct. 20, 1971, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Leonard proceeded in death on April 12, 2000.Lionel earned his bachelor ofscience in management from Tulane University in May of 1993. He graduated with a master of business administration in finance from Emory Universitys Goizueta Business School in May of 1997. On June 20, 2006, Lionel earned his Certified Financial Planner designation.Lionel began his career in Atlanta, as a financial analyst with Pacesetter Steel Service Inc. In May of 2000 he accepted a position at Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia (MGAG) as a financial analyst. In October of 2002 he began his career with Great-West Retirement Services as an Account Representative.While Lionel achieved great success in his career, his love for family was always first. He and Shirelle Hill were united in holy matrimony in Norcross, Ga. To their union Ayanna Zachery was born.Lionel had a passion and heartfelt desire to help anyone he could plan and prepare for their retirement. In addition, he loved playing, coaching, and refereeing soccer. He also enjoyed listening to music, going to concerts, great dining, traveling, and spending time with his family.Lionel leaves to celebrate his life his wife, Shirelle Zachery; daughters, Ayanna Zachery and Jnaiah Sanders; one son, Stephen Smith; his mother, Dale Rooks; sister, Joanna Zachery; brother, Samuel McCray; grandmothers, Eunice Rooks and Annie Zachery; Leroy Miller (Carolyn) and Shannon Miller; two special aunts, Carolyn Rooks and Alice Zachery; and a special uncle, Wayne Leon Rooks; along with his nieces, nephews, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.Graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Lakewood Memory Gardens East, 4621 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.Arrangements by John P.
