Mary Groce

Mary Elizabeth Groce of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at her residence surrounded by family and friends.She was a lifelong member of Stanley Independent Baptist Church. She retired from Wheeland Foundry after 23 years of service. Mary was truly a servant for her Lord first , then others, through her food ministry. She Loved the Lord and missed being able to attend Church over the past several months.We were so blessed to bring church to her and also having her 75th birthday party with over 100 people present singing Happy Birthday outside her window where she was able to testify to all there of her faith in the Lord and asking the crowd to meet her in heaven one day.She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Groce; parents, Fred S. McNabb and L. Bertha McNabb; brother, Ed Stout; and sister, Ella Mae Owens. Survivors include her children, Rita Tucker, Ricky (Vickie) Hatfield, Jerry (Kay) Hatfield, Tresia (Lee) Griffith and Charlene (Jamie) McKnight; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Herman Stout (Tubby), Josephine Bledsoe, Judy Richardson, Johnnie McKenzie, Larry, Wayne, and DL Mcabb and Carol King. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Shawn Meade and Dwight Martin officiating. Burial to follow in Hamilton Memorial Garden.
