Marilyn Read

Marilyn Read, 80, of Collegedale, Tenn., passed away at her home Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Erma Neil. Marilyn was born Aug. 5, 1933 in Lima, Oh. Marilyn was an accomplished violinist who played for the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and Napa Valley Orchestra. She later played in several senior orchestras. She worked at Collegedale Credit Union until she retired. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was a long time member of Collegedale Seventh Day Adventist Church.Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of sixty years; Charles Read; one son, C. Brent Lana) Read; three daughters; Brenda (Richard) Thornton, Lisa (Gordon) Cavin, Tricia (Tim) Burgess; grandchildren, Tiffany De Oliveira, Aaron Gimber, Brandon Read, Tyler Thornton, Justin Read, Andrew Burgess and Gracelyn Burgess; great-grandchild Emalyn Galacia; sisters, Lenore (Jim) Mercer, Colleen (Lamar) Young and many nieces and nephews.The family requests memorial donations be made to ADRA.A private family service will be held at a later date.
