Maureen Taylor Boyd, 98, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in a local health care facility.She was born in Fayetteville, Tenn., to the late Ross and Eva Taylor, and was a resident of Chattanooga for 90 years.Maureen graduated from the Edmonson School of Business; then took a position at the Electric Power Board. As World War II ended, she moved to Washington, D.C. to work in the Pentagon while her husband, Lamar, finished his Army assignment. They returned to Chattanooga to start their family. Maureen retired as director of the Chattanooga Bureau of Relief in 1976 after 17 years of service. She was a member of Central Baptist Church Woodmore, now Christway Community Church in Ooltewah.She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lamar Boyd; brothers, J.R. Taylor and Milton Taylor; and most recently her sister, Jewell Garner.Maureen is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Hammond and husband, Krew, of Rockville, Md.; her son, Taylor Boyd, of Dallas, Texas; and her grandson, Kitt Boyd, of Santa Monica, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care given by Dr. Anne Barron, Fran Iannarme, Jacqueline Stoval, Ruby Byrd and Rev.
