Mooneen Emanuel

Mooneen Camp Emanuel (known to her friends as Dean) passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from complications of leukemia.Born Aug. 28, 1938, she was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Mooney Camp; and father, Grover Camp. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Michelle Emanuel, of Oxford, Miss.; and half sisters, Jan Wade and Joyce Kelley, of Chattanooga.She was co-valedictorian of her high school class and attended the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, the then-University of Chattanooga, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Social Security Administration, retiring after over 42 years of civil service.She was a member of Our Lade of the Valley Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga. A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, at Our Lady of the Valley in Pelham, Ala., with a visitation starting at 10 a.m.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS.org).
