Gary Coley

Gary Donald Coley, 76, of Hixson, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. Gary was born in Talladega, Ala., to the late Malcolm and Willie Davis Coley on Aug. 5, 1937.Gary Donald Coley graduated from Mumford High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Athens State University.He was married to Barbara Ann Jones on July 3, 1957.Gary D. Coley had a career in computer science for G.E., Computer Science Corporation and Tennessee Valley Authority.He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, Sertoma Club, where he was awarded the Distinguished service award for 35 years and avid -golfer and member of Creek's Bend Golf Club.Gary is preceded in death by his parents Malcolm and Willie Belle Coley; brothers Malcolm Coley, Jr. , Allen Coley, Lamar Coley; sister Frances Purdy. Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara Ann Coley; son Gregory Donald Coley; daughters Teresa Ann Coley and Melissa Marie Crosby; brothers Jerry Coley, Robert Coley; sisters Martha Wells, Sarah Hughes, Johnnie (Pat) Powell; granddaughters Reede Neutze and Joi Marie Crosby.The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 9, from 12-2:30 p.m. At Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.Funeral service for Gary will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Reed Shell and the Rev. Paul Longmire officiating.Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel, Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee 37343.
