Gene Trotter

Ernest "Gene" Trotter, of Hixson, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. He was 82 years old.Gene was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and served our country in the United States Navy. He was a Police Sergeant with the Chattanooga Police Department, retiring with over 30 years of service. Gene was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edna Trotter; siblings, Robert and Bill Trotter; grandchildren, Heather and Jeremy Cox.Gene is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Shirley Trotter; children, Teresa Trotter, Deborah (David) Leatherwood, Linda (Scott) Cox, Kim (Charles) Miller and Anthony Trotter; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; siblings, Jimmy (Sue) Trotter, Lamar (Sue) Trotter and Judy (Judd) Lovern; many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today and 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel.Services for Gene will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Barry Mayfield and Rev.
